We are excited to have you leading a ritual during our upcoming conference. As you know, we only accept programming that is suitable for an intermediate to advanced audience, but all sessions are open to anyone who registers. We are also all in shared spaces. For the sake of clarity we wanted to share our expectations of all rituals.
- We expect ritualists to be able to manage the energy of the ritual and contain it in its space so that it does not bleed into other areas/classes.
- We expect ritualists to clean up the energy and dismiss entities appropriately after their ritual has ended so that the area is clear for the next session.
- We expect ritualists to be prepared to handle unanticipated consequences to participants during the ritual and afterwards. In rituals where this is more likely (high energy rituals, rituals that involve unpredictable and/or possibly hostile spirits, etc.) it is strongly advised to have trained associates who are tasked with stepping in to help participants, if needed. Some examples of interventions include helping participants deal with energy overload, helping them return to their own shape and consciousness, helping them with cleansing/protection required as a result of the ritual, helping participants process upsetting experiences.
- We expect the description of the ritual and the in-session introduction to give sufficient information for informed consent. It is especially important in rituals where unanticipated consequences are more likely (high energy rituals, rituals that involve unpredictable and/or possibly hostile spirits, etc.). Descriptions should not be alarmist, but they also should not trivialize actual risks so that participants can make informed choices.
If you have any questions or concerns about our expectations, please reach out to us.
